Who Needs Recovery
I was so frustrated, annoyed, and bitter. I slunk into the room, yet my insides were kicking and screaming. I wondered if it were possible for the room full of people to see real smoke coming out of my ears—-because I was fuming.
I was only attending my first 12-step addiction recovery meeting because my husband had problems. I brought that same irritated attitude and arrogance with me to the first few meetings I attended; however, it only took a few meetings before I was flipped completely up-side-down.
I didn’t think I needed addiction recovery because I didn’t believe I looked “like an ‘addict.’” I wasn’t trapped in the “obviously” negative habits and behavioral patterns such as misusing substances, compulsive sexual behaviors, or gambling. Yet, I started to discover I had developed extremely comparable habits and behaviors to my husband, who was actively trying to get sober.
It’s Not Only About Substances
It’s now been 9 years since that first recovery meeting. Here are a few of the unexpected places I’ve discovered needed recovery work:
Drama, anger, & injustice
Shame
Victim-hood & blaming
Toxic positivity
People-pleasing
Misusing relationships
Patterns of negative thinking
Over-scheduling
Burnout + crash
Relationship with food
Body image issues
Misusing technology
Procrastination
Starting & not finishing
Self-sabotaging
Perfectionism
What Needs to be Recovered?
Once I blasted through my assumptions and pre-conceived notions about who needs recovery, it quickly became clear why recovery is for everyone, including me and including you!
I really love how the Oxford Dictionary defines “recovery:”
I eventually became aware that all these things I was turning to were symptoms of what was actually at the roots. They were efforts to cope with the separation I was experiencing from myself as well as separation from the One who lends me breath (Whoever or Whatever that means to you).
At SuperHealth®, We believe that you have all that it takes to reach your full potential. We help unlock your True Self. Your True Self is powerful and fully capable of resolving all of your issues.
You may have spent your life looking outside yourself for a quick fix…fads, trends, negative habits, behavioral patterns, or maybe even addictions.
The REAL answers lie within.
We give you the tools to discover your inner self. This will help you feel comfortable in all situations and build confidence and self-esteem. The need to weaken yourself with substances, food, or any other destructive behaviors or patterns, is therefore eliminated.
Our goal at SuperHealth® is not in simply getting off of substances or stopping behaviors, it is helping a person elevate and go from recovery to self discovery.
My own personal recovery journey has included many tools and experiences; however, Kundalini Yoga, and specifically, SuperHealth® have been irreplaceable! Our system at SuperHealth® blends Kundalini Yoga and meditation, therapeutic juicing and nutritional formulas, and root-level psychology. It is a unique system that you will not find anywhere else!
Since September is #recoverymonth, we invite you to help the SuperHealth® team share this message of hope: recovery is for everyone!
