Healing with Positive Sounds and Words

“Many sophisticated states can be stabilized in the mind using uplifting words that lead us to healing. We can conquer depression, enhance intelligence and intuition, and open the power of compassion.”

Mantra is a fundamental element of Kundalini Yoga, along with conscious breathwork, movement and meditation. It is woven into many kriyas, and is a recommended, reliable tool that enhances wellness and self-care.

We live in a world that currently sees doom and gloom headlines as the norm. For people who have nurtured their ability to “turn off the noise,” it is still a challenge to pilot a clear, steady course through the bombardment of bad news. For those who may be struggling with low self-esteem or harmful habits, it is exceedingly difficult to ignore manipulative outside forces.

SuperHealth teachings stress the positive effect that chanting mantra has on the endocrine system by stimulating the pituitary, hypothalamus and pineal glands. Tuning these glands with repeated sounds, phrases and vibration is believed to invigorate all parts of the body, awaken connections between brain and body, and promote healing.

Healthy, Happy, Holy Breath

It is a logical understanding – repeating genuinely uplifting, self-affirming messages helps silence negative, fearful, self-deprecating thoughts.

The Healthy, Happy, Holy Breath combines mantra, conscious breathing and mediation. It can be an ideal introduction to mantra for people unfamiliar with the practice. For those considering a 40-day commitment for the first time, this meditation can be motivation for taking this important step towards healing.

  • Sit in Easy Pose or in a chair with the feet flat on the floor. The hands rest on the knees, palms up.

  • The eyes are closed and rolled up, focused on the brow point.

  • Inhale deeply through the nose. Suspend the breath and silently chant the mantra three times: Healthy am I, Happy am I, Holy am I. The word “holy” in this mantra refers to a state of wholeness or completeness.

  • Exhale, chanting out loud three times: Healthy am I, Happy am I, Holy am I.

  • Repeat the pattern for up to 11 minutes, followed by 1-2 minutes of silence.

To end, inhale deeply, interlock the hands and stretch the arms high above the head, palms facing up. Stretch the spine as the breath is suspended. Exhale and relax.
